WHERE IS GOURMET CINEMA?

HOW DO I GET THERE?

VIA CAR

For those driving, free parking is provided in the Guineas Car Park, entry via Gate 21, Station St, Caulfield East.

VIA PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Caulfield Racecourse is conveniently located opposite Caulfield Train Station.

TRAIN

Frankston, Dandenong, Cranbourne and Pakenham lines depart regularly from Flinders Street to Caulfield Station, located directly opposite Caulfield Racecourse. The journey from the City takes approximately 15 minutes. Additional services are provided during peak times.

TRAM

Attendees can catch a Route 3 or 3a tram and alight at Stop 56.

  • From the city, Route 3 travels along Swanston St and St. Kilda Road and operates weekdays only.
  • Route 3a travels along Swanston St, St Kilda Road and St Kilda Beach and operates weekends only. The journey takes approximately 25 minutes.
  • From East Malvern, Route 3/3a services travel along Waverley Road.

BUS

Access to Caulfield is available from Stud Park Shopping Shopping Centre, Wellington Road, Monash University (Clayton) and Chadstone Shopping Centre via SmartBus Route 900. Travel time from Stud Park is approximately 50 minutes. Route 624 buses from Kew, Auburn Station, Tooronga Station and Holmesglen Station also operate to Caulfield.

Visitors travelling on foot can enter the event via the Main Gate (Gate 23) on Station St.

Opening Hours & Screenings

WHAT TIME DO GATES OPEN?

Evening sessions- Gates open at 6.00pm

Matinées- Gates open at 1.00pm

WHAT TIME DO THE FILMS START?

All evening screenings will commence at approx. 8.15pm.

Unlike most outdoor cinemas, our LED screen does not require complete darkness to operate.

There will be plenty of great food and wine to enjoy prior to the screening, so we recommend arriving early to make the most of the great offering.

Matinée sessions will commence at approx. 2.00pm.

Ticketing

HOW MUCH ARE TICKETS?

Online tickets:

Adults – $22.00 inc GST (plus $2.80 booking fee)
Matinée (Adults & Children) – $12.00 inc GST (plus $1.30 booking fee)
The Bulla Premium Patch – $35.00 inc GST (plus $2.80 booking fee)

At the gate:
Adults – $27.00 inc GST
Matinée (Adults & Children) – $15.00 inc GST
The Bulla Premium Patch – $40.00 inc GST

Online tickets also attract a credit card processing fee, which is a 3% addition to the subtotal of ticket price and booking fee.

Children under the age of 2 years do not require a ticket however ask that you please observe movie classifications.

WHAT DOES THE TICKET PRICE INCLUDE?

The standard ticket price includes entry to the course to view the movie. All food and drink, as well as blanket and chair hire, are charged separately.

The Bulla Premium Patch ticket includes entry to the session, reserved deck chair seating, and a bag of delicious popcorn with priority bar access. All food, drink and blankets will be charged separately.

HOW DO I BOOK TICKETS?

Tickets are available for purchase online via the Gourmet Cinema website.

HOW DO I COLLECT MY TICKETS?

Online ticket purchasers will receive an email with their tickets. Please bring a printed copy with you or show your ticket via your smartphone at the gate to enter.

DO I NEED TO PRE-BOOK?

In the event that a session does not sell out, limited tickets may be available at gate (capacity dependent) however we strongly suggest you pre book to avoid disappointment.

Food & Drinks

WHAT’S ON THE MENU?

Each night, four iconic Melbourne restaurants will be serving some of their menu favourites direct to movie goers.

During matinee sessions, two restaurants will be serving hungry families yummy food to keep the kids happy.

CAN YOU BYO?

The Gourmet Cinema has some of Melbourne’s most iconic restaurants cooking up special menus inspired by film – so we encourage you to simply bring your appetite and discover the amazing food they’ll be creating!

If you would like to bring your own food, you certainly can.

We are unable to allow alcohol to be brought onto the premises.

I HAVE DIETARY REQUIREMENTS – WILL THERE BE SOMETHING FOR ME TO EAT?

Vegetarian options will be provided by some of our partner restaurants. For any other dietary requirements we suggest you bring some food along with you.

CAN I BRING DRINKS / ALCOHOL?

You can bring water, but no alcohol please.

HOW MUCH WILL THE FOOD AND DRINK COST?

Each partner restaurant will have a food stall with delicious culinary creations ranging from $4 – $18.

Wines by the glass: $7 – $12

Wines by the bottle: from $39

Beers & Ciders: $6 – $10

WILL THERE BE EFTPOS/ ATMS AVAILABLE?

Payment will be accepted in cash or via EFTPOS. There will also be ATMs available.

What to Bring

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

Apart from a big appetite, you may want to bring the following:

  • Picnic blanket / pillows to lounge on
  • Sun protection (e.g. hat, sunscreen)
  • Warm clothes (in case it gets chilly in the evening)
  • Raincoat (in case it gets a little wet)
  • A blanket to snuggle under
  • Your friends and family

WHAT SHOULDN’T I BRING?

  • Wine glasses – we’ll have these at the event for you
  • Alcohol – no outside alcohol is permitted
  • Cutlery & plates – these will be available from the restaurants

CAN I BRING PETS?

We love pooches as much as the next person, but we ask that you get a dog-sitter for this one. No pets please.

Age Restrictions

Can I Bring Kids?

The matinee sessions are aimed at kids and parents – please do bring them along.

Some of the night session features are not suitable for young children, with most of these films rated M or above. We ask that you check the films to decide whether the films are age appropriate.

Regarding the session on March 11 (Pulp Fiction): As this film is classified R18+, proof of identification will be required upon entry.

Seating Arrangements / Disabled Access

What Are The Seating Arrangements?

Seating for the general area is allocated on a first come, first served basis. As the Gourmet Cinema is a picnic style event, we encourage you to bring your rug or low-to-the-ground beach chair and find a spot on the grass. Unfortunately no camping chairs will be permitted as we need to make sure everyone has a good view of the movie. Arrive early to get the best spots.

Deck chairs will be available to rent on the night for $7.00 each and beach chairs for $5.00.

Picnic blankets can be purchased for $20.00 while stocks last.

IS THE EVENT WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE?

Yes, all areas of the event are wheelchair accessible.

Smoking

Can I Smoke?

There will be a designated smoking area. We ask that you refrain from smoking unless inside the designated smoking area.

Weather & Cancelled Sessions

WHAT IF IT RAINS?

As an outdoor event, inclement weather is a possibility. Screenings will go ahead in rain that is light or intermittent, and screenings will only be cancelled if there is a safety risk to patrons. With unpredictable weather, screenings may be cancelled at late notice. Announcements will be made on the Gourmet Cinema website and Facebook page, so be sure to check these prior to setting off to the event.

WHAT IF MY SCREENING IS CANCELLED?

If your screening is cancelled, your ticket for the cancelled session will be valid and allow you entry for one of the remaining Gourmet Cinema sessions.

If the cancelled session is the last Gourmet Cinema session, then you will receive a full refund of the ticket purchase price. You will be contacted via email if this occurs.

For Bulla Premium Patch tickets, your ticket will be refunded in the event of a cancelled session due to capacity.
